Follistatin

Follistatin is a naturally occurring protein that blocks myostatin, and the small community running it does so almost entirely for muscle growth and recovery. There is no FDA-approved use in people; every human application is off-label or compounded, and the underlying evidence is preclinical and animal-only. People report a wide dose range, from 50 micrograms up to 10 milligrams, but the most common is 100 micrograms daily. Report volume is thin enough that no consistent picture of tolerability has emerged, so treat both the efficacy and safety signal as early and unsettled.

Research Evidence

Evidence shape

Follistatin currently holds a low evidence tier, as the existing human literature is restricted to five diagnostic and mechanistic studies rather than clinical trials for therapeutic use. While the peptide is frequently discussed in preclinical research, there are zero registered human trials and no completed studies evaluating its efficacy for specific health indications. This lack of clinical data means that current research remains entirely exploratory, with no evidence base to support its use outside of controlled laboratory settings.

Most users who specified a schedule take Follistatin at 100 mcg subcutaneously each day, while a smaller group doses weekly at 5 mg and others did not state a frequency; reported amounts span from 50 mcg up to 10 mg.
